- Helpful Information -
Payment
1. Students have the option of paying for casual or ongoing lessons. Ongoing lessons are taught on a weekly basis and require a minimum commitment of one term.
2. Tuition fees are non-refundable in the middle of term as lesson schedules are assigned for an entire term.
3. Mid-term enrolments are possible dependent on availability and are billed for the remaining weeks in the term. Casual lessons may be booked dependent on availability and are billed at the casual rates.
4. A deposit has to be made in order to secure any lesson schedule. We do not hold schedules without payments after due date of issued invoices.
5. We accept payment by electronic funds transfer or credit card. Cash is not accepted at our studios, except for payment of books and resources that the teacher may have purchased for you.
6. Late payments or default on payments will incur associated costs and surcharges.
Cancellations / Missed Lessons
1. If the teacher needs to change or cancel a lesson, that lesson will be rescheduled, credited or refunded. In some cases, a substitute teacher may be provided if a teacher is unavailable due to illness.
2. If a student cancels a lesson, make-up lessons are available if adequate notice was given, dependent on teachers' availability. Make-up lessons are limited to once per term and must be used during the term.
3. When enrolling in lessons by the term you are reserving and committing to a specific lesson time each week. If you anticipate the need to change or cancel your lessons more than once per term, we recommend casual lessons instead.
4. For all lessons, if less than 24 hours cancellation notice is given prior to the scheduled lesson time, that lesson will be forfeited. In cases of sudden illness, exceptions may be made at the discretion of the teacher if notice was given by SMS or email before noon on the day.
Materials
Teacher will suggest music books and resources which can be purchased through the studio, or at your local music store. Please bring a notebook to all lessons for the teacher to record lesson notes and homework.
Punctuality & Safety
Please arrive punctually and attend every lesson on time. To ensure your child’s safety, please be sure to pick them up promptly after lesson time. SMA teachers and staff are not responsible to supervise children in the waiting area or any where in school property before or after lessons. Children are under supervision of the teacher during their instruction time, in the class room only.
Parents Guidelines
We are committed to providing a positive, respectful, and productive learning environment for all students. To ensure this, we kindly ask all parents and guardians to review and follow the guidelines below:
1. Communication
Please direct any questions, concerns, or feedback to us via email or scheduled meetings. Unscheduled visits or interruptions during lessons are not permitted as they disrupt the learning process.
2. Attendance and Punctuality
Please ensure your child arrives on time and is ready for their lesson. If your child is unable to attend, notify us at least 24 hours in advance to reschedule.
3. Respectful Behaviour
We expect respectful behaviour from both students and parents towards teachers, staff, and other students. Disruptive behaviour or disrespect will not be tolerated and may result in termination of lessons.
4. Lesson Policies
Lessons are scheduled for the agreed-upon times and fees. Any changes or cancellations must be communicated in advance according to our cancellation policy.
5. Student Commitment
Regular practice and cooperation are essential for progress. We appreciate your support in encouraging your child’s commitment to their musical education.
6. Safety and Environment
For the safety and comfort of all, please follow any on-site guidelines and maintain a calm atmosphere. Parents are asked to wait in designated areas unless invited into the lesson.
7. Feedback and Concerns
We welcome constructive feedback and will work with you to address any issues professionally. Please avoid confrontations during lesson times; all concerns should be handled respectfully through appropriate channels.
Concert
A concert is held at the end of a year. Students are required to participate in this concert. This is an excellent opportunity for students to perform in a non-competitive and friendly environment. It also helps to build students’ confidence in sharing their music with others. This is a family affair where family, relatives, and friends are welcome. Date will be advised each year.
